"KIDS" on Angels

I only know the names of two angels - Hark and Harold.        Gregory, 5

. Angels don't wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it.  Olive, 9

It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to heaven, & then there's still the flight training to go thru. Then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes.     Matthew, 9

Angels work for God and watch over kids when He has to go do something else.        Mitchell, 7

My guardian angel helps me with math, but he's not much good for science.      Henry, 8

Angels don't eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows !       Jack, 6

Angels talk all the way while they're flying you up to heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead.    Daniel, 9

When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath & counts to ten. & when he it out, somewhere there's a tornado.   Reagan, 10

Angels keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window & leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go north for the winter.     Sara, 6

Angels live in cloud houses made by God & his son, who's a very good carpenter.  Jared, 8

All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses & boys didn't go for that at all. Antonio, 9

What I don't get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them.
Sarah, 7

Yes the Rumor is True, I did indeed get married this past weekend !! Of course we had a great time at Friendship Village again this year, it's one of PLQ's  favorite annual stops. Another  tremendous Saturday of singing, food, and fellowship.  Then on Sunday morning, a record breaking amount of kids and wanna be kids flooded in for PLQ's  SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY, hosted by Yours truly. After plenty of marching, singing, laughing, and Praising, the Sights and Sounds re-enactment of the Story of Jonah had the whole place Roaring ! Especially at the end when Jonah (played by the 6'8" bass singer from the Fellowship Quartet) escaped the Big Fish just in time for the throng of Kids to cover him in silly string and soak him completely with water pistols.  You're a good sport RICH !!!
But the Joke was, for a change, on me as Ken Rhodes (campground owner, weekend host, and Licensed Minister) ask me to step forward. The Wedding March began to play, and a veiled bride was accompanied down the aisle by her "LARGE  FATHER" who wasted no time showing the Shotgun Shell he had at the ready should things not go as planned. Complete with a marriage certificate and rings,  the whole campground seem to be in on the surprise, as the minister began the ceremony. And though a bit dazed , shocked, and a little white,  I managed to maintain my composure enough to "Kiss the Bride" for the Photographers.  Grinning congratulations were bestowed on the newly Married Couple by all !!!  OK  Friendship Village,  You GOT ME !!!
Joe Crinkle ties the knot !!!  On July 18th, PLQ welcomed a new member to our family, as Joe married his fiance', Ms. Lori Coolidge. It was a beautiful  celebration attended by over 150 family and friends. The bride was veiled and radiant in a bridal ball gown in classic white satin, while the groom  himself managed to be quite dapper in formal black with white satin. Joe's father stood at his side as the Best Man, while Lori's sister joined her as the Maid of Honor.
I was honored to provide a vocal background during the "ring" ceremony with a wedding song, "the Road That Never Ends" as well as creating all of the floral. arrangements for the affair. We went with Tropical shades of Fuchsia, Lime, Tangerine, Azure Blue, and Royal Purple, for a festive and colorful atmosphere.  Gene, acting as Emcee for the reception, attended with his wife Amy and son Zack.  Kevin brought his wife Vicky who provided the photos shown here on the website. Even ol' Ed Record and and his lovely wife Dolly made the 6.5 hour drive to be apart of this special day. In addition to the quartet and our immediate families, more than a dozen PLQ friends made the trip.
Being early afternoon, the reception featured heavy Hors d'œuvres. My father, created the multi-tiered and fountained cake, which I must say was absolutely delicious and delicately flavored with Almond. and iced in Rich Butter Cream. We all gathererd to blow Bridal Bubbles as the newlyweds entered their balloon and confetti filled escape vehicle. They headed to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for a few days, but were forced to spend the second half of their honeymoon, at my place, as our singing schedule started on Thursday that week.
The couple would like to thank all of you for your words of encouragement and congratulations, and especially those of you who attended the ceremony. They have purchased their first home, and reside in Bluefield, West Virginia.
What a Weekend !! We set off at dawn on the Friday before Labor Day for Kentucky not knowing what momentous events were instore. Shortly into the trip, Kevin recieved a call from his wife, advising that their pregnant and 2 week overdue daughter, Tiffany, was headed to the hospital, to have labor induced !  Hours later, as we still travelled, the News arrived : He was now a Grandpa for the first time ! Ayla Ann Williams was born at 2:57pm, weighing 6.2 pounds, and measuring 18" in length. He was still grinnin' as we arrived in Crab Orchard Kentucky.
That night, the concert went well, and Pastor Zandall Hastey, warmed up to us enough to offer a special treat, we were going to get our first taste of "Coon Hunters'" cake. In fact he ambushed me as I entered the fellowship hall with a big mouthfull. I learned later that no racoons were harmed in the creation of this desert.
After the service we were escorted even farther out in the country, and then after loaning  us an SUV (the bus couldn't get there), we were escorted to our lodging for the weekend,  an authentic Log cabin high on a hillside. Gene assured us that with his amazing, innate sense of direction, we would not need further escorts. Early the next morning,  He and Ed headed back to town to find some breakfast, leaving us non-breakfast eaters behind. Unfortunately neither noticed the address or even name (the Horse and Buggy Inn), and found they couldn't relocate the inn, not even with the help of the locals. Without cellphone service, we had no idea where they were, I was getting hungry and imagining the worst.  Lunch came and went, (I was forced to munch on stale cereal bars and grasshoppers), and finally, five hours later, The duo sheepishly walked back into the cabin. Luckily I had done some research and found a lovely restuarant only 2 miles down the road !!
And Finally on Sunday the 6th we helped Gene Celebrate his birthday (45!!) with a mexican fiesta. With a bit of time before the evening concert, he was able to spend an hour doing one of his favorite pasttimes, a little fishin' !.
Special thanks to my adopted brother , CHAD TYNER , for his hospitality and hard work in booking a truly memorable and fun filled weekend.
